LACRM user Keith asked our team:
Can you please tell me if it is somehow possible, to have a link from a note in the history panel to a file saved in the attachments panel. Thank you.
What Keith wanted to do was enter a note about a contact in their profile, and also include a file attachment in that note.
However, because there isn’t a way to attach a file directly to a note, here’s what he did instead:
-
Uploaded the file to the contact’s profile via the “Attach an item” dropdown menu.
-
Opened the uploaded file by clicking on that file’s tag on the contact profile, and hitting “Open”:
-
Copied the URL (the link at the top of the browser) of the opened file:
-
Then pasted it into his note:
Clicking on that link in his note any time will now open that file!
Special note about this tip:
- This only works if you’re uploading a file type that can be opened in your browser (e.g. pictures, and PDFs)
- This won’t work if you’re uploading a file type that cannot be opened in your browser (e.g. Word documents, Excel spreadsheets etc.)
