Add a file to your LACRM note by linking to it

LACRM user Keith asked our team:

Can you please tell me if it is somehow possible, to have a link from a note in the history panel to a file saved in the attachments panel. Thank you.

What Keith wanted to do was enter a note about a contact in their profile, and also include a file attachment in that note.

However, because there isn’t a way to attach a file directly to a note, here’s what he did instead:

  1. Uploaded the file to the contact’s profile via the “Attach an item” dropdown menu.

  2. Opened the uploaded file by clicking on that file’s tag on the contact profile, and hitting “Open”:

  3. Copied the URL (the link at the top of the browser) of the opened file:

  4. Then pasted it into his note:

Clicking on that link in his note any time will now open that file!

Special note about this tip:

  • This only works if you’re uploading a file type that can be opened in your browser (e.g. pictures, and PDFs)
  • This won’t work if you’re uploading a file type that cannot be opened in your browser (e.g. Word documents, Excel spreadsheets etc.)
