Make information "pop" on a profile by color-coding a custom field

When bringing up a contact I would like to have a pop up window for very important must have info on that contact. Example, I book travel and some of my clients have “special needs” such as Diabetic or Sharps container required, etc. It would be helpful when I open the contact it pops up as an important note when I open the customer info window. Thanks

Makes total sense! A CRM is all about managing and organizing your data, and the reality is that the more you know a client, the more information you’ll have about them. But when you have lots of information on a profile, it becomes harder to separate out the important details from the less important ones.

Here’s the solution we recommended to Don:

Since you can color-code dropdown, checkbox, and radio list options, Don can create a checkbox list of “Special Needs”, and make all of the options in that checkbox list red in color (or any other color that would stand out on a profile).

This way, whenever this “Special Needs” field is filled out on a contact profile, whatever information was selected will show up in a bright color on that profile.

This way, you can still save all the information you need about a contact without having to worry about being unable to find important details!

We use an “Alert” field in our records, but it’s a text field (because what we want to record could be anything) we can’t use color coding. Are there any plans to add color coding to text fields? (Basically, I’d just like to be able to specify a background color based on value present and value not present.)

Thanks for the suggestion! I don’t think that was on our feature request list, but I see why that would be helpful, so I just added it to the list. We’ll keep an eye out to see if other people request the same thing. There also might be other ways to accomplish the same task in the future (e.g. we hear the request a lot to let you pin notes to the top of a contact’s profile, and notes already allow for color-coding).

I add a regular note to customer record with important information. Then a make it bold text and make date of note 10 years ahead. That way the note always stays on top when I look at customer record and its there in bold.

I can see this being useful for some, but we have enough attached items that to see the note we’d have to scroll down a few pages. I need something visible at the top of the record. (And to forestall the suggestion, yes, a future dated task would show up, but could easily be accidentally completed.)
