Keeping track of a client's financial accounts with pipelines

CRM Coach Maggie recently chatted with a financial planner who works with high net-worth clients, all of whom have many separate accounts for savings, IRAs, investments etc.

What she wanted was the ability to go into any client’s profile and clearly see:

  1. How many active accounts a client has and;
  2. Core details of each account: the name, type, institution, date opened etc.

The solution they came up with was to create a pipeline called “Account”, with all of those details in point 2 above created as custom fields on that pipeline, and the statuses “Open” and “Closed”.

What this Account pipeline allows her to do now is go into any client’s profile, hit “Attach an item”, select “Account”, then fill out the details of one single account.

If a client has multiple accounts, simply attach multiple “Account” pipelines to that profile!

Here’s what these “Account” badges look like on a client’s profile page:

Now at a glance, you can see that this client has 2 active accounts that you manage, the details of those accounts, and plus if you ever need to see a report of all the accounts that you manage for all your clients, you now have a corresponding “Account Report” that you can access just like every other pipeline report!

How do you currently keep track of your client’s financial accounts? Any other tips on how to stay on top of high net-worth clients?
